The Helen is a cocktail I created as a tribute to Manjula, my wife and partner. I affectionately call her Helen, after the most excellent Helen Richardson from Hindi movies of yesteryear. It is a most refreshing summer cocktail. The ingredients are key, especially the lime juice and the Fevertree aromatic tonic water.
2 oz gin (I prefer Citadelle Gin, available at Total Wine or BevMo)
1/3 - 1/2 oz green chartreuse
Juice of half a lime (Mokkarala tree lime or a good, juicy organic lime)
Fevertree aromatic tonic water (available at Total Wine and K&L Wines)
Pour the gin, chartreuse and lime juice over ice into a tumbler and top off with the aromatic tonic water Stir and enjoy! Meri jaan maine kaha!! (fans of Helen will get this).
I typically use Citadelle gin, a French product. The Kirkland brand is a fine gin also, but the Citadelle makes it better!
